The veins of the leg can be classified into two major catagories...deep and superficial.  The superficial veins are those typically seen near the surface of the skin and in certain cases make up the varicose veins that you may predominantly see.  There are two superficial veins that are the focal point when treating venous disease.  They are the Greater Sapphenous Vein and the Small Sapphenous Vein.
